BATEN XAI
Explicability by Architecture
Not a product 9 Dimensions Deterministic EU AI Act Ready
Every decision. Explained. Certified.
BATEN XAI is not a feature you add. It is the principle you build on. Every BATEN decision is decomposed into explicit, auditable dimensions — scored, not generated. Traceable from intent to outcome. While others adapt to the EU AI Act, BATEN embodies it by construction.

AI Act articles covered
The Vertebral Architecture — Three layers. One spine.
ZAHIR
Certifies what happened. Immutable causal chain. Every event is timestamped, SHA-256 signed, and linked to its predecessor.
→ The memory that cannot be altered.
XAI ← spine
Explains why it was decided. Every AI output is decomposed into 9 explicit dimensions. No inference without justification.
→ The reasoning that cannot be hidden.
BATEN
Applies domain intelligence. Expert cartridges, scoring, personas — all constrained by XAI principles. No generation without scoring.
→ The intelligence that cannot surprise.
ZAHIR certifies the fact. BATEN produces the intelligence. XAI is the contract between them — the guarantee that every decision is both explicable and its history is immutable.
9 Dimensions. Every decision decomposed.
D1
Relevance
Does the response address the actual question? Semantic distance measured, not assumed.
D2
Reliability
Is the information grounded in the knowledge base? Hallucination pressure quantified.
D3
Coherence
Internal logical consistency. Contradictions detected before output.
D4
Actionability
Can a human act on this? Vague outputs penalized. Clear, usable answers rewarded.
D5
Proportionality
Depth matches the complexity of the question. Not too brief, not exhausting.
D6
Domain Fit
Alignment with the active expert cartridge. Off-domain responses flagged automatically.
D7
Neutrality
Absence of unsolicited bias. Expert stance preserved without distortion.
D8
Traceability
Every score is linked to its ZAHIR causal chain. The decision is auditable, not just the output.
D9
Reproducibility
Same input → same score. Deterministic by design. No random variance in critical decisions.
EU AI Act — Satisfied by architecture, not by compliance effort

The EU AI Act creates mandatory obligations for AI systems in high-risk contexts: HR, finance, healthcare, legal. Most vendors add compliance layers on top of their AI. BATEN builds from the requirement down.

Article 12
Logging and traceability of AI systems operating in high-risk contexts.
ZAHIR: every AI decision generates an immutable, causally-linked SHA-256 block. The log is the architecture.
Article 13
Transparency — users must understand what the AI does and why.
XAI: every output includes a 9-dimension score breakdown. No black box. No "trust us".
Article 14
Human oversight — AI must allow humans to intervene, correct, or override.
BATEN scoring is deterministic and decomposable. Humans override with full context, not blind faith.
Article 10
Data governance — training data must be documented, relevant, and bias-managed.
Expert cartridges define explicit knowledge bases. No silent training data inheritance.

Result: deploying BATEN in a regulated context does not require a compliance project. The architecture is the compliance.

What BATEN XAI is not

Not a product you license separately. XAI is the architectural principle. Every BATEN deployment includes it by default.

Not post-hoc explainability. Post-hoc XAI (SHAP, LIME, attention maps) explains a model after it has decided. BATEN XAI constrains the decision before it is made — the score is the reasoning, not an approximation of it.

Not a safety wrapper. Safety wrappers detect harmful outputs and block them. XAI is structural — a response that cannot be scored cannot be issued.

Not a benchmark. Benchmarks measure AI on test sets. XAI measures every production decision, on every query, in real time.
